Not that I'm trying to turn this blog into a review site, but I must share my adoration for a new music CD from RASA, Soul Adventures Vol. 1.
Here I was minding my own business when I got an e-mail from someone from the company asking if I'd be interested in doing something with this music, maybe having it on our website. I said, I'd have to hear it first, but honestly I wasn't holding out much hope. I've been in the position to review stuff for a while and nine times out of ten you're left with finding a polite way to tell people they really, really don't want to hear your opinion. I admit to being a tad judgemental, a trait I have been working on most of my life and more intensely since becoming a reiki master. But, anyway, I have digressed.
Let it suffice to say I wasn't holding out much hope of liking this CD, but I have been so delightfully surprised that I have to share. Using the sounds of the ocean as a backdrop, Soul Adventures explores several musical themes. I won't go into every cut, but here are my top three.
- Sparkle, features a haunting flute solo that alternates with a jazzy woodwind combo.
- Easter Song is the piece most evocative of the ocean. My husband said it made him want to go to the arctic and ride on a whale.
- Happiness Is boasts a sensual Middle Eastern flavor that's infectious.
