Book Review: Money and Manifesting by Dyan Garris

I'm going to be upfront right from the start. I was asked to post today about Dyan Garris as part of a blog tour for this author. Money and Manifesting is a book I probably never would have found otherwise, but I am so grateful I asked Dyan's publicist Nikki Leigh for a copy before agreeing to be part of the tour.

By now, most of us know at least a little bit about the law of attraction, the secret, etc. It seems many authors of this type of book are great proponents of the esoteric aspects of manifestation and don't do so hot where Dyan excels--practical examples, practices and solutions for drawing abundance into your life.

Dyan's premise is that often our desire to manifest wealth is a fear-based, root chakra issue that will not attract what we truly want. According to Dyan, only when our chakras as well as our thoughts AND actions are in sync will we manifest what we want. Not only does Dyan discuss each chakra, ways that readers can tell which of their chakras may be blocked, mantras, yantras, and meditations, she also discusses basic techniques for achieving a meditative state, grounding, centering, and chakra balancing.

In all I found this a very informative book, both for the initiated and the newbie and recommend it highly. And in investigating Dyan's site I found several other goodies I'd love to go back for. I wish Dyan much success and I hope you will give her offerings a try and let me know what you think.

O Happy Day!

Today is not only Mother Earth's Day, but our mother's birthday. Please join the reikisisters in wishing both ladies well. Please send healing light to Gaia and find other ways to celebrate her abundance. Send her gratitude for all she provides. Enjoy the wonderful weather (at least here in NY) and each other. Try to do the same the next day, as well.

If you need some inspiration, look here:

An Attractive Proposition

This tidbit comes to me from ZAP magazine, a publication of the New Beginnings Alternative Health Group. They put out some interesting words. I found this particularly interesting since I'm reading a book on the same topic that I will be reviewing here in a few days. Needless to say, I find the topic interesting. Hope you do, too.

How To Use Gratitude And The Law Of Attraction ~ by Kris Sroka

Gratitude and the Law of Attraction work to create abundance in your
life, even when you do not know how this principle works. Knowing how
this principle works is to be using the Law of Attraction to actively
create a life that is truly prosperous and in harmony with the universe.

The Law of Attraction is not just a metaphysical idea; it is also a
theory that has been proven to work. Science has discovered through
quantum physics that there is a very real law of nature, bringing back
to use what we think about.

We create our lives through our thoughts and feelings being answered.

That we send out is returned back to us in kind. This is the science of
manifestation at work.

People that live out their lives experiencing poverty and scarcity
usually will broadcast these needy expressions in negative ways. Like
attracts like, therefore, the universal consciousness that we are all a
part of sends back to us more of the same. Just as positive affirmations
and states of mind return to us the same. This helps to answer why some
of us believe that our glass is half empty, and others experience their
glass as half full.

To begin using the Law of Attraction to work for us in positive ways is
to take control of our lives and understand how to best use this power
we all have within us.

Expressing gratefulness is creating a gratitude Law of Attraction state
of mind. To be grateful is to think positive and feel positive. You
cannot express true gratitude without feeling emotionally grateful.
Being thankful for everything that comes to you is to accept your life
the way it is, realizing that everything that has come to you is because
you created it. This may not have been your conscious intent, but this
is the life you created.

Sometimes gratitude comes in steps. Making a list of things you are
thankful for being in your life helps you to create a more positive
energy within you. It also helps to begin surrounding yourself with
people that are upbeat and positive.

By reflecting positive affirmations of gratitude, you begin to change
your inner world to one of lighter, higher vibrational energy that will
be broadcasted to the universe. Then the Law of Attraction will answer
this by changing your outer world to reflect your inner, positive state
of mind.

This may sound corny, or too simple of an idea, but this is the way the
universe works. Old thought patterns that we have established over time
can be easy to slip back into again.

When changing our life in positive ways, staying on course with an
attitude of gratitude can seem difficult. In time, this new pattern
establishes itself and becomes you.

When you begin making affirmation statements to yourself, you will begin
to manifest a life of happiness and abundance by being grateful. Begin
telling yourself that you are grateful for having money in your life.
This will affirm things that are already present in your life and create
more of it. Even if you only have a dollar to your name, expressing
gratitude for this money will begin to bring more of the same.

Ringing the school bell redux

It's come to our attention that in these recessionary times, spiritual enlightenment often gets the short shrift. Ah, well, we've all got to feed the body as well as the spirit. In the effort to do both, we've cut the prices on our classes and sessions. So if you took a look at the website and your pocketbook groaned, have another look and see if you can swing the more affordable prices (we've gotta eat, too), please sign up for class. We'd love to have you.

Class dates are as follows:

Wednesday/Thursday, May 14/15: Reiki I Evening workshop, 6-9 pm
Saturday, May 17: Reiki I Workshop, 10-6 pm
Sunday, May 18: Reiki II Workshop, 10-6 pm

For more information and to register, see our website.

Slouching toward enlightenment

Like the rest of the known world, I am reading Eckhart Tolle's A New Earth and enjoying it very much. I feel that I have been in the process of finding my life's purpose since I was born, or shortly thereafter. I was given last rights in the delivery room, but somehow I survived. So it has always seemed to me that I had a purpose for being here. What that purpose was I had no idea.

I thought I'd found it in becoming a parent or a teaching, or in writing, or in becoming a Reiki Master, all of those things outside of my essential self, all of those things merely structures for the ego. For me, a middle child, the ego is the hardest and most essential thing for me to release. They were talking about the aha moment some folks had when reading the book and here is one of mine:

When tragic loss occurs, you either resist or you yield. Some people become bitter or deeply resentful; others become compassionate, wise and loving. Yielding means inner acceptance of what is. You are open to life.

I'm still working on that yielding business, learning to, as some people say, let go and let goddess. But I am getting there.
Here's another:

The Truth is inseparable from who you are. Yes, you are the Truth. If you look for it elsewhere, you will be deceived every time.

As I write this, I'm listening to Celia Cruz's trademark Rie, Llora, which translates to Laugh and Cry. This song, about the relativity of life, resonated with my from the first time I heard it. It says, what's good one minute might not be good the next, but what's important is to hold onto that moment of now and live your life to the fullest. It reminds me of what the Buddhists say about the joyful participation in the sorrows of the world.

Sometimes the universe just has to let you know you're onto something. My gift to you today is the lady doing what she does best.
