Yang about Yin

On one of the lists I belong to, someone was lamenting the fact that many times people pay so much attention to the Goddess these days that the God gets short shrift. This person is Wiccan and speaking to other pagans (I assume). While I don't label myself pagan (or anything else for that matter) but I do unabashedly grok the goddess energy that seems to be all around us these days. I am now and always have been all about the girls.

That doesn't mean that I don't appreciate masculine energy. In my life, I am a romance writer, partially because I wanted to write about health love and men and women that were flawed but not less lovable because of it. However, I also recognize that masculine energy, or rather an overabundance of masculine energy has been the chief cause of quite a variety of things wrong with the world. It's not that testosterone is bad, estrogen good, but any system out of balance is bound to get itself into trouble. I think that was the poster's point.

However, I think we need to give the Goddess some extra time now to let more of her energy have a chance to spread as a form of spiritual affirmative action. When it's time, the pendulum will swing back toward the middle. If we're lucky we'll figure out how to keep the balance by then.

Busy as the disappearing bees

Things have really picked up for us here at the Healing Hands of Reiki. I've been very busy passing attunements. Seems like folks have been coming out of the woodwork wanting to be part of the healing going on now. New classes for June are listed on the website here.

And in case you've been wondering what Elyse has been up to, she's been in school learning Ama massage and she's ready to see clients. If you're in the New York area, please give her a try. I was one of her practice dummies during the beginning of her training and let me tell you, there is nothing like it. To find out more about Amma, go here. Schedule an appointment at 914-665-1613.

Surprisingly delicious

Not that I'm trying to turn this blog into a review site, but I must share my adoration for a new music CD from RASA, Soul Adventures Vol. 1.

Here I was minding my own business when I got an e-mail from someone from the company asking if I'd be interested in doing something with this music, maybe having it on our website. I said, I'd have to hear it first, but honestly I wasn't holding out much hope. I've been in the position to review stuff for a while and nine times out of ten you're left with finding a polite way to tell people they really, really don't want to hear your opinion. I admit to being a tad judgemental, a trait I have been working on most of my life and more intensely since becoming a reiki master. But, anyway, I have digressed.

Let it suffice to say I wasn't holding out much hope of liking this CD, but I have been so delightfully surprised that I have to share. Using the sounds of the ocean as a backdrop, Soul Adventures explores several musical themes. I won't go into every cut, but here are my top three.

  • Sparkle, features a haunting flute solo that alternates with a jazzy woodwind combo.
  • Easter Song is the piece most evocative of the ocean. My husband said it made him want to go to the arctic and ride on a whale.
  • Happiness Is boasts a sensual Middle Eastern flavor that's infectious.
I highly recommend Soul Adventures Vol. 1 for reiki, massage, meditation or just to listen to. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do. Click on the CD cover to go to BN.com to purchase or go to the RASA website to look around.
